The Lady of the Lake was a piece I had a lot of fun doing, I used watercolor and encaustic (hot wax) mostly. I found a wonderful iridescent blue and green powder to add to the wax and it worked beautifully. It is inspired by a poem my mother, Carla Chlouber (September 20, 1939 - April 27, 2011) wrote.
The Lady of the Lake
I know a beautiful lady
Who lives by the lake.
And yet she’s cruel,
And her thirst for victims,
She’ll never slake.
Garments of glorious colors,
Incandescent reds and blues,
And shimmering greens she wears.
Yet not a sign of evil or wrongdoing
Her wondrous figure bears.
Living a carefree life of beauty, this
Beauteous lady would never have
Cause to cry,
This magnificent, beautiful,
Shimmering Madame Dragonfly!
